Model M High Temperture Class Y

All Model M Series Gate Valves are profiled after the original WKM Model M Gate Valve. All dimensions interchange parts. The Model M Series Gate Valve utilizes a "Packing Injection Fitting" in the bonnet assembly to provide an injectionable stem packing to the stem seal area while under pressure. The Model M Series Gate Valve is offered in both cast and forged body.

The Model MEG is the Model M Series of Gate Valves utilizing the Expanding Gate (Hence�EG). The Expanding Gate is a mechanical open and close wedge gate action, closing the gate against the seat on the upstream and downstream achieving a seal on both the upstream and downstream seat. This is advantageous when trying to accomplish a positive seal under low pressure and high pressure situations. This Model is considered a directional valve since the segment (Minor) side of the two pieces expanding wedge gate faces the upstream side and the gate (Major) with the threaded neck and stem interface the downstream side.

For high temperature applications, we use Valveworks USA proprietary valve lubricant (BMâ€�00). It is dark brown to dark yellow in appearance and has a service temperature range of 0°F to 650°F

ENGINEERING TECHNICAL DATA & NOTES FOR MODEL M-HIGH TEMPERATURE VALVES

  1. Graffoil High Temperature Stem Packing-Chevron V; SS Mesh/Graffoil Teadit – Style 2550/2551 Crinkled flexible graphite tape. Tested and proven at -50°F to 650°F.
  2. Aflas® O-ring provides high temperature long term direct continuous life at 204°C (450°F) and has been successfully used under intermittent exposure conditions at 343°C (650°F)(according to "Asahi Glass Company", LTD Tech Data). In 1994, Valveworks USA began using the Aflas® O-ring in its high temperature (650°F) service as a secondary-backseal on the Model M floating metal to metal seat with indirect reduced exposure. Since 1994, and approximately 70,000 applications, there have been zero temperature related failures.
  3. Metal to Metal gate and seat to body (with Aflas® O-ring secondary, Backseal) gate and seat (Metal Face) are ground and lapped with an 8√ finish to assure a positive seal.
  4. For high temperature applications, we use Valveworks USA proprietary valve lubricant (BM-00); which is dark brown to dark yellow in appearance and has a service temperature range of 0°F to 650°F.
  5. The Valveworks high temp seat, Model M, has an 8 finish ground and lapped face with a metal to metal seat to body, slip fit to the body, sealed metal to metal – body to seat, under pressure by the gate, with a secondary O-Ring (Aflas®) groove seal centered into the back of the seat with metal sealing, seat to body, eliminating direct exposure to the O-Ring.

HIGH TEMPERATURE PACKING INJECTION

The high temperature packing injection uses a packing made of Graffoil and 316 SS wire mesh. It also uses a packing male adapter which sits on the Graffoil side of the packing.

NOTE: Injection packing when injected into a new valve may require a refill after initial usage. This packing will settle if too much is injected initially, which makes the hand wheel hard to operate.
